Happy Holidays!

With the holidays upon us, we’re ready to take some much needed time off and visit family, then spend a week or so at the cottage doing nothing but stoking the fire, reading, and taking some time to explore the forest. Next up for the new year, the Parachute website!

Happy holidays everyone!

No Longer A Puppy

Charlie camping in Algonquin Park.Today Charlie turns two years old, and can no longer be considered a puppy – even if he acts like one much of the time. We’ve got him a bone stuffed with dried meat as a gift, wrapped it up in some scrap craft paper. I’m sure he’ll love it, but he gets just as much enjoyment from tearing the paper off things. I’ve always wanted two labs, and am still working on the issue with my wife, but I’ve been told to wait until the first dog is at least two years old. Perhaps the time is getting nearer…

Although, we’ll definitely need a bigger place before getting another lab. But how fantastic would it be to have two of them to keep me company all day?

Let it snow

Does anyone else hate that one or two month period between the end of fall and the first snowfall every year? It’s not so bad when you’re up north and surrounded by nature, but in the city, things just look so gray and dead and uninteresting to say the least. Today we’ve got some snow that looks for the first time as if it will stay for a while. A white Christmas might be too much to ask for at this point, but at least we’re off to a decent start.

I haven’t taken any photos in the past couple weeks as well because I’ve been in the city and I struggle to find anything worth shooting during this dead, gray period. Hopefully the snow will spark some interest and force me to get out there and start shooting again. I’m running low on updates for my photo blog.

Defying The Stereotype

It’s been a long-established stereotype that artists – especially designers – aren’t athletic, or interested in sports to begin with. So I’ve been told repeatedly anyway. I’ve been an avid Leaf’s fan for as long as I can remember, and absolutely love the fact that they’re finally doing things properly and rebuilding. The more games they lose the better as this season goes on. It’s tough sometimes relaxing on Saturday night watching the game and cheering for the other team, but I’ve found that a great way to counteract this feeling is to get involved in fantasy sports (like a hockey-pool). That way, you can play your guys against the Leaf’s and end up having a great night in the end.

The more games the Leaf’s lose this season, the better draft pick we’ll get in the summer and ultimately the team will be better down the road.

Tying The Knot

Saturday, July 26, 2008 Kate and I finally tied the knot! It was a beautiful day with a thunder storm in the morning leading up to the afternoon wedding (we both love thunder storms) and to our luck we were graced with a sunny warm afternoon starting just as we left the church for photos.

Kate and I between the typical staged photos.

The photography was done by a couple friends, Mark and Nery who did an amazing job, and then passed on the RAW files to me for post-processing and layout. Being a designer you’ve got to create your own customized wedding album… right? It took about 250 hours, but it’s finally finished and off to the printers this week. It was a lot of work (which I expected) and I don’t think I’d want to tackle something like that again, but in the end, looking at the final product, I know it was worth it.
